I said no to four projects this year. I wrote up the pattern I finally noticed in the last post, so I won’t repeat it here, but the short version: every one of them wanted me to absorb someone else’s bad planning.
What I’m reading: On Writing Well by William Zinsser, for maybe the fourth time. It gets more useful the more annoyed I am at my own copy.
One project did land quietly this month, a small redesign for a client I’d worked with before. No launch date yet. It’s the kind of project the “no” made room for.
